Susan Partyka, of Alpena, Michigan, passed away surrounded by love. Born and raised in Alpena, Susan lived her life with quiet strength and an open heart that touched everyone who knew her. Sue grew up loving the water, helping her parents and siblings on the family farm, and will always be remembered for her beautiful curls. She loved to share her stories with family, she was grateful to have been raised in a time when life seemed to move a little slower. She spread happiness wherever she went, enjoyed a good song to dance to and could beat anyone’s score in Ms. Pac-Man,. Best known for her uplifting personality, Sue touched many lives in ways only the luckiest people could understand. As best friend to all, she had a friendly face even to strangers. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. She believed in finding joy even in difficult times. Sue participated in a bowling league, played pickleball often while in Arizona, and made lifelong friends at Arizona Pioneer Park, where she also attended weekly card games, especially loving a good game of Spitzer. Sue worked bingo for many years in both Alpena and Arizona and was deeply involved in her community. She drove a charter bus and even felt blessed as a foster mother for many children. She served as the Lady President of the Alpena VFW, helped create the Ladies Auxiliary for the VFW, and later became President of VFW District 13. Her leadership, kindness, and dedication left a lasting mark on everyone she worked alongside. She found her greatest joy in simple, beautiful moments—watching her grandchildren play, spending time with family, and sitting down for a board game filled with laughter and stories. She loved knitting for the littles, putting together puzzles, people watching, and discovering new places to eat. A talented baker, Sue loved sharing her treats and later in life found joy in teaching and helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren bake. Her gentle humor and warm presence brought comfort to all who knew her. Susan’s memory will live on through family and friends, she will be with them anytime they share time by the water. Everyone will forever cherish her kindness, compassion, and beautiful soul—inside and out. Susan was truly one of a kind: genuine, loving, and endlessly giving. The world was better for having her in it, and she will be deeply missed.
