Shirley Ann Labarge

Shirley Ann LaBarge, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Alpena on Monday, February 22, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley Ellery was born on July 4, 1932 she was born in Alpena to the late Raphael and Mary (Minton) Ellery. She married James LaBarge at St. James Catholic Church in Whittemore, Michigan on June 27, 1953 by Rev. Henry DuRussel. Attendants were Raymond and Pat Keller. She enjoyed caring for her family, shopping, cooking, and garage sales, Shirley was a kind and generous person who made it a priority to help those in need.
She is survived by her five children: Joan (David) Dumeah, Jim, Paul, Dave, and Patrick (Terry), two brothers Dale (Rita) Ellery, Bob (Carol) Ellery, sister Carol (Walt) Antkowiak, brother-in-law Ronnie Standen and sister-in-law Dorothy St. Charles; two grandchildren Sara and Anthony LaBarge; step-grandchildren: Jim and Christopher Engle and their loving mother Debra Paterra.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years James, sister Joyce (Ronnie) Staden, brother Eugene and his wife Elaine, and several dear friends and relatives.
Family and Friends will gather for visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 2pm until the 7pm Funeral Service begins at Karpus-Hunter Funeral with Sr. Mary Hughes officiating. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
