Rosemary Godfrey

Rosemary Godfrey, 94, of Hillman, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 surrounded by family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother that will be dearly missed. Rosemary was born on September 17, 1929 to the late Albert and Mae (Sauve) Chabot in Alpena. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. On May 20, 1950, Rosemary married the love of her life Morris “Mike” Godfrey at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Herron. They raised their children on the family farm where Rosemary always made sure that everyone was fed with a home cooked meal and was well loved. Not only did she take care of all of the children and their needs, she also mended all of the work and play clothes as a masterful seamstress, helped with the farm and made sure everything ran accordingly. Rosemary was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and devout catholic. Her faith was first and foremost above all else. 
She is survived by her eight children, Michelle (James) Munro of Lachine, MI., Dean (Debbie) Godfrey of Butler, PA., Daphne (Chris) Weston of Petoskey, MI., Albert (Janet) Godfrey of Butler, PA., Mary (Patrick) Willson of Petoskey, MI., Pamela (Randy) Keyser of Middlebury, IN., Deborah Muck of Butler, PA., and John (Angela) Godfrey of Hillman, MI., twenty-four grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, a son, Duane Godfrey, a sister, Virginia Schram, and a brother, Irving Chabot.
Family will receive friends for visitation at St. Augustine Catholic Church on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. James Siler as celebrant. Interment will be immediately following at St. Augustine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to St. Augustine Catholic Church.
