Robert Michael Weinkauf, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in
his home on Tuesday August 11th surrounded by his children and granddaughter.
Robert was born on November 23rd, 1951, in Alpena Michigan to Walter Weinkauf Sr. and
Theresa Weinkauf (Kuchinski). Robert was raised in a large family, being one of ten children,
and went on to graduate from Alpena High School in 1969. Robert worked for the family
business for over 50 years as a master plumber and mechanical contractor and went on to
become the president of the company, leading and growing the business with honesty and
integrity.
Robert married the love of his life Connie Weinkauf (Bock) on September 2nd, 1978, creating a
beautiful life together in Maple Ridge Township. Together, they raised three loving children,
Jesse, Andy, and Heidi. Robert took so much pride in teaching their children valuable life
lessons and preparing them to face any obstacle they may confront. Instilling in their children
the importance of family, working hard, independence, and taking care of the environment
were among the most important to him. A pinnacle in his life was becoming a grandfather to
Alivia Muszynski. He passed onto her the same life lessons, often picking her up from school
and spending most of his free time with her. You could often find them at the beach in the
summer, at downtown events, making snowmen and sledding in the winter, playing board
games at home and sharing their love for Disney movies together. Robert always said, “A day
without Alivia is like a day without sunshine.”
Robert was a steward of the forest and land, caring for and tending to the environment through
land conservation and forest management. He was always looking out for nature and every
creature that calls it home. He would often be found planting trees at camp, his “Shangri-La”,
or picking up litter on the side of the road. A life-long planter of trees and a lumberman, nature
was his solace. Robert was very mechanically inclined. He could build, fix, or create anything.
Robert’s immense curiosity and thirst for learning led him on many adventures and travels.
Robert is survived by his children, Jesse (Nicole Logan) Weinkauf, Andrew (Megan) Weinkauf,
and Heidi Muszynski (Weinkauf), grandchildren, Alivia Muszynski, Stella Logan, Emery
Trammel, Sadie and Beckett Schuft, his siblings Douglas, William, Alan, Karen, Barbara, Steven
Weinkauf, and Diane Grishaber, and friend Lise Muszynski.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Connie, brothers, Walter Jr. and Jerrold, and parents
Walter Sr. and Theresa Weinkauf.
Robert was an amazing father, grandfather, husband, and all-around role model; A true pillar of
our family and the community. He was loved by many and respected by all.
