Lucille K. Crofton, affectionately known as Lucy, was a beloved soul who touched the lives of many with her kindness and unwavering dedication to helping others. She was born on January 19, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to her parents who instilled in her the values of compassion and generosity. Lucy's journey came to a peaceful end on May 3, 2024, in Alpena, Michigan, surrounded by the love of her family.

With a master's degree in psychology, Lucy pursued a career as an H.R. Supervisor at Headstart Community Action Agency in Escanaba. Her passion for supporting others extended beyond her professional life as she dedicated years working at the Women's shelter in Alpena, leaving an indelible mark on those she served.

Lucy's warm and caring nature shone through in all aspects of her life. She was known for her green thumb and found solace in cultivating both flowers and vegetables in her garden. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with her children.

In addition to her loving husband Richard Crofton, Lucy is survived by her daughters Rose Howard and Becky Howard, son Christopher Howard, and brother Jim (Mary Anne) Kucharek. She was predeceased by her brothers Chester C. "Bo" Kucharek and William Anthony "Tony" Kucharek.

Lucy will be remembered as a beacon of light guiding us toward empathy, understanding, and love for our fellow human beings. Her legacy will be woven into the fabric of our lives reminding us to live with open hearts and minds.

May she rest in peace knowing that she made the world a better place through her unwavering belief in equality and compassion for all beings to create a harmonious planet.
