Leonard I. Scott

December 17, 1957 — September 12, 2020

On Saturday, September 12, 2020, in the early afternoon, God whispered Leonard Scott's name and called to him, "Come home and be free of the cancer that has broken your body."  God knew that Leonard was ready to join all his loved ones that had gone before him and celebrate his eternal joy and happiness in heaven.  His wife, family and friends were with him as his soul joined Jesus.

If you ever met Leonard, you never forgot him.  He was a hurricane of a man and lived life to the fullest.  If you ever asked for help or a favor, you only had to ask once.  His passion for enjoying life was completely contagious to everyone around him!

Leonard Irving Scott was born on December 17, 1957 to James and Dorothy (Allain) Scott.  He graduated from Alpena High School in 1975 and went on to a career sailing on the Great Lakes, retiring in 2014.

Leonard spent retirement camping, hunting and finally enjoying his time at home with Karen and tearing down the open road with his other girlfriend- Harley Davidson!  He was an avid pool player on the over 40 Pool League (Joe's Bar) and Men's Wednesday Pool League.  He spent every Christmas season playing Santa with his two elves raising money for Friends Together. He also volunteered at Sunday Supper at Trinity Episcopal Church.  Leonard participated in as many fundraisers as he possibly could!

Leonard's heart and soul became one with his wife Karen (Romel) when they were married on February 21, 1986.  Their marriage was blessed with two sons, James Leonard and Thomas Robert.  Leonard's legacy of love will continue on with three granddaughters:  Staysa, Suzanne and Elliana.  Len's heart was always stretching a little more to fit in all the love and warm heartbeats he had for them!

As Leonard takes his seat at the Lord's table, he joins his father, James; mother, Dorothy; brother James (Bob); and brother-in law Mike Liske.

Those left behind to treasure the memories of Leonard include his wife, Karen; sons, James and Thomas; granddaughters Staysa, Suzanne and Elliana;  brother Ed (Julie), sister Patsy Weise (Larry).  In laws include: Geraldine and Julian Romel, Julie and Chris Wozniak, Gail and Jan Halleck, Tom and Brenda, Ann and Mike Sweet and Tami and Bruce Anschuetz. He also leaves behind his three furry footwarmers:  Gertrude, Matilda and Fat Margaret.

Among Leonard's many, many friends and relatives, many hugs and thanks go to Eugene and Laurie Kotwicki who were there for Leonard and Karen every step of the way.  Karen and Len are truly blessed to have their friendship and dedication.

Also special thanks and a long, hard hug from Karen's heart and soul to Denise French.  Her strength and loyalty are God's blessing to Len and Karen through this cancer storm.

Per his wishes Leonard has been taken for cremation.  Memorial Visitation will be Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pastor Lee Blanchard will officiate at the Memorial Service at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
