With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Leng Lee- a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Born in Laos, Leng came to the U.S. at the age of 17, seeking a new beginning after enduring the hardship and displacement brought on by war. Despite arriving in a new country with little, he brought with him a strong work ethic, deep resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family.
Leng and his wife, Pai Xiong, proudly built and ran Chee Peng Chinese and Thai Restaurant in Alpena, Michigan together for over 20 years. Through long days and quiet determination, it became a cornerstone of the community- a place where families and friends gathered often to make memories. Whether welcoming guests with his gentle smile or making sure each dish reflected his high standards, Leng poured his heart into every detail and created something truly enduring.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, 12 children, 3 daughters in law, 1 son in law, and 16 grandchildren- each one the center of his world and the reason behind every sacrifice he made. He also leaves behind a sister and brother. To them all, he was far more than a provider, he was their strength and their heart.
Leng leaves behind a legacy of humility, generosity, resilience, and deep love for family and community.
