Joseph Duane Rouleau, also known as Joe, peacefully departed this world on October 3, 2023, at the age of 86 in his beloved hometown of Alpena, Michigan. He was born on June 27, 1937, in Alpena and his journey was marked by love for his family and passion for home renovation projects.
Joe is survived by his daughters, Darlene (Mike) Wade, Linda (Scott) Bloomberg, Kelly (Fred) Reller and Debbie Lewis. He was also blessed with several grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his brother William (Dorothy) Rouleau, his brother James and his sister Carol Lutes. He was cherished by his nieces and nephews, who held a special place in his heart, especially Diane and Dave Kiefer, Wendy Barnard and Jamie McConell who provided loving care in his final years. A special thank you to the staff of Turning Brook for Joe’s excellent care.
Preceding Joe in his death were his son, Bradley Rouleau, his parents, Adelore and Lillian Rouleau, his brother Charles (Lorlea) Rouleau, his sister Lucille (William) McCrandell, his brother Donald (Mary) Rouleau, his sister Phyllis Mortimer, his sister Evelyn (Wayne) Mousseau, sister-in-law Lolly Rouleau and brother-in-law Ernie Borg. May their souls find eternal peace.
Joe received his education at Alpena High School and later served his country with honor in the Michigan Army National Guard 119th Field Artillery Regiment. His dedication and service were a testament to his unwavering commitment.
Throughout his career, Joe worked as a barber at Rouleau’s Barber Shop, where he alongside his father and brother Jim skillfully transformed haircuts into works of art. After many years of dedicated service, Joe retired from DPI- Alpena Hardboard (formerly Abitibi) where he had lasting contributions. In his retirement, he found joy in renovating and selling homes, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.
Joes’ faith was an integral part of his life, and he found solace in worship at Saint Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish his entire life.
The compassionate team at Karpus Hunter and Ross funeral home in Alpena, Michigan, is assisting with the funeral arrangements, ensuring that Joe’s final journey is met with dignity and respect.
Memorial visitation will take place at Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of funeral service at 2:00 P.M. with Deacon Michael Roy as Celebrant. Online condolences may be registered at www.karpushuntercares.com
