Gordon Thomas Montroy, 67, of Alpena, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was a kind, caring, and loving man that will be dearly missed.
He was born on July 14, 1954 to the late Elwood Palmer and Mary Montroy in Alpena. He went on to graduate from Alpena High School and later work for Huron Portland Cement and LaFarge Corporation where he retired from with over 30 years of service. On April 19, 1980, Gordy married the love of his life Julie Cosbitt at St. John Catholic Church in Alpena. They raised their sons here in Alpena where they enjoyed many years of athletics and Gordy never missed an opportunity to coach his sons. He coached baseball and hockey for many years and enjoyed every minute of it. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with his 67 Camaro, and developed a strong passion for the game of golf. Gordy loved to golf and went as often as he could. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, but what brought him the greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, “The littles”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Julie, two sons, Adam (Kimberly), and Caleb (Ashley) Montroy, four grandchildren, Holton, Haisley, Beckett, and Brooks, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the time of funeral service at 7:00 P.M. with Fr. Tyler Bischoff as celebrant. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Michigan. Online condolences may be registered at www.karpushuntercares.com
