Gerald Robert Ott, affectionately known as Jerry, departed this world on January 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on December 30, 1951, in the vibrant community of Ferndale, Michigan, Jerry was the beloved son of the late Lloyd and Thelma (Wisdom) Ott.
Throughout his life, Jerry exemplified the essence of service. His career spanned various roles; however, it was in his work as a caretaker where his true passion shone brightly. With a gentle touch, he dedicated himself to landscaping, building, and nurturing homes—creating spaces that were warm and welcoming. His commitment to helping others was a reflection of the love he poured into every task, making him a cherished presence in the lives of many.
A man of profound faith, Jerry's beliefs provided a strong foundation throughout his life. He was a kind and compassionate man of God, whose unwavering faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ illuminated his path. This devotion extended into every interaction he had, offering comfort and strength to family, friends, and the church community he was proud to be a part of.
Jerry
is survived by his loving wife, Ina, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He was a proud father to three children: Gerald Robert Ott II, John Ott, and Theresa Ott. These bonds of love were further enriched by his role as a grandfather to three grandchildren: Molly Buchler, Sarah Buchler, and Serenity Ott. Each one of them carried a piece of his heart, and he reveled in every moment shared, creating memories that will carry on through them.
While we celebrate the life of Jerry, we also pause to remember those he is now reunited with in eternal peace, including his beloved parents and siblings, Sonny Ott, Roger Ott, and Janine Thomas. Their absence leaves a void, yet their lessons and love continue to live on in the stories shared by those who knew them.
As we gather to reflect on Jerry's life, we hold onto the memories of a man whose kindness knew no bounds. Jerry's spirit will undoubtedly linger in the laughter and joy of family gatherings, in the quiet moments of reflection, and in the faith that guided him every step of the way. He will be dearly missed, remembered always for the warmth he brought into the world and the love he so unselfishly shared.
