Francis “Frank” Detloff, 88, of Alpena, passed away peacefully at Sally’s Care Home on Monday, October 10, 2022. He was a caring, kind, and loving man that will be dearly missed. Frank was born on April 4, 1934 to the late Leo and Katherine (Andrzejewski) Detloff in Alpena. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. He worked for Huron Portland Cement for 34 years until he retired. In 1952, Frank served his country in the United States Army. On October 30, 1971 Frank joined hands in marriage with the love of his life, Helen Swartzinski at St. Bernard Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and trips to the casino. He cherished his morning coffee with his buddies and was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Frank is survived by a brother, Paul (Arlene) Detloff of Alpena, three sisters, Rosemary Allen-Hatcher of Alpena, Barbara Gibas of Bay City, and Marianne Klee of Alpena, several nieces and nephews, and his lifelong best friend, William Kowalski. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, Leo and Katherine, and two brothers, Leon and Donald.
Memorial visitation will take place at Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022 from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral service at 4:00 P.M. with Deacon Michael Roy officiating. Inurnment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to McLaren Hospice or All Saints of Alpena.
