Everett “Bill” Platt, 79, of Alpena, passed way at his residence on Sunday, September 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and in the care of Hospice of Michigan.
Bill was born, September 5, 1945, to the late Wilford and Ruth Platt in Detroit, MI. On October 4, 2009, he married Nancy Gardner in Grand Marais, MI.
Bill worked as a carpenter for Cedar Creek Construction for 23 years before retiring in 2002. He served in the United States Navy MCB-3 during the Vietnam war.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, two children, William (Michelle) Platt and Karen Hicks, two stepchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Sandblast, and Brian (Gina) Birnbaum. He is also survived by his nine loving grandchildren, Patrick, Daniel, Kaitlyn P., William, Kaitlyn R., Joshua, Jacob, Noah, and Jonah and a sister, Kathleen (Mel) Jones.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at Grace Lutheran Church on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, from 10am until the funeral service starting at 11am with Rev. Tom Orth officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 2496 and The United States Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the food pantry at Grace Lutheran Church Alpena (119 W. Dunbar St. Alpena, MI. 49707) or to Hospice of Michigan (199 Long Rapids Rd. Alpena, MI. 49707). A.E. Ross Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
