Dwane Everett Hunt

Dwane Everett Hunt passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 76, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 after a valient battle with Cancer. Dwane was born in 1946 to Harry and Marion Hunt of Petoskey.

Dwane was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and served in the Vietnam war. He was a lifetime member of the local VFW Post #2496. He retired from sailing after serving for over 20 years as a Chief Engineer on the Great Lakes. He was known for his great sense of humor and “barrel laugh”. He enjoyed good music, carpentry, reading, and driving his tractor. He was a generous soul whom will be dearly missed. His favorite quotes were, “ I like living on the edge”, and “May the wind always fill your sails.”

Dwane is survived by his wife, Betty Hunt, his children Shannon (Doug) Shepherd and Courtney (David) Gilbert, his stepchildren, Corinna (Phil) LaHaie, and Erik (Janet) Kinsinger, and his sister Bonnie (Lee) Bent. He was formerly married to Corynne O’Brien, the mother of his children. He also has nine grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Dwane has been taken for cremation from Karpus Hunter & Ross Funeral Home. No services are planned at this time.
